Manuel II Palaeologus, 1391-1425. 1/8 Stavraton (Silver, 16 mm, 0.88 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in field to left, three pellets; to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. MAN૪VHΛ Nimbate bust of Manuel II flanked by two pellets, wearing domed crown and three-lobbed tippet. DOC 1537. SB 2553. Beautifully toned and exceptionally complete, with a clear reading of the emperor's name. Minor areas of weakness and with some deposits, otherwise, extremely fine.
